Katie Holmes eyes Upper West Side apartment

Katie Holmes had a serious fling … with the Upper West Side, where she recently put a bid on an apartment at the prewar Apthorp.

For now, however, Holmes has opted to stay in her rental at the Chelsea Mercantile. We hear that Holmes loved the cozy prewar four-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment at 390 West End Ave. so much she put in an offer. But sources say her financial advisors convinced her she was better off renting.

The 3,100-square-foot unit, which was asking $6.75 million, is now in contract with someone else. The listing brokers, Douglas Elliman’s Frances Katzen and Steven Giles, declined to comment.
