Everybody's All - Americans Katie Holmes, 22, and Chris Klein, 22, hooked up in typical Hollywood fashion-they got each other's numbers from their agents. But that's where the tendency toward Tinseltown posturing ends. The fresh-faced Dawson's Creek star lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, (where the series is filmed) 10 months a year: and the actor who has served up laughs in "American Pie" and in this month's sequel was enjoying dorm life at Texas Christian University before stardom stepped in. Dating since January 2000, the couple is decidedly low-key about their fame and has gone to great lengths to keep their relationship hush-hush. "We're very anti-social," Holmes has said to ET.
Rumor Has It For a long time, both Holmes and Klein simply smiled politely for the cameras when asked if they were an item. "She's a beautiful girl," Klein told ET last year. "If you want to spread that rumor, you can."
On The Road Holmes and Klein enjoyed traveling together to their favorite hot spots for vacation. They've tried to keep a low profile while staying at the Mondrian hotel in L.A. but have been spotted smooching in the lobby. On the way home from a vacation in Barbados earlier this year, the telegenic twosome reportedly passed the time at the airport by reading aloud passages from the classic tearjerker Withering Heights.
Making It Big Both Klein and Holmes seem destined for enduring big screen careers. Next up: she returns for Dawson's Creek's fifth season and costars with Benjamin Bratt in "Abandon' : he appears in "We Were Soldiers' with Mel Gibson and is lacing up skates for the remake of "Rollerball.
