A-listers gear up for Tribeca Film Festival
By Mara Siegler
James Franco, Richard Gere, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Glenn Close and Katie Holmes are just a few of the big names partaking in this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, kicking off April 15 with Bao Nguyen’s “SNL” documentary “Live From New York!”
The festival will see performances by Mary J. Blige, ballerina Misty Copeland, Tony Bennett, Brandon Flowers and tap dancer Savion Glover, who will celebrate Frank Sinatra with a concert following a screening of “On the Town.”
Stephen Colbert will interview “Star Wars” creator George Lucas; “Foxcatcher” director Bennett Miller will chat with Christopher Nolan; and former spy Valerie Plame and “We Steal Secrets” director Alex Gibney will join a panel on secrecy and power.
“Clue,” “Lady and the Tramp” and “A Faster Horse” will play for free at the Tribeca Drive-In.
The fest closes with a 25th anniversary celebration of “Goodfellas,” which will include a Q&A between Jon Stewart, festival co-founder Robert De Niro and other members of the cast.
The 14th annual Tribeca Film Festival runs April 15-26.
