Day out: Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and daughter Suri at Melbourne Aquarium
Hollywood stars Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and daughter Suri, 3, made a splash at the Melbourne Aquarium on Wednesday.
The glamour family made a shock visit to the tourist spot after familiarising themselves with their new surrounds at the top of Crown casino.
Pakenham mum Robin said she took her two kids to the aquarium to watch her sister swim with the sharks and instead stumbled on big-screen royalty.
"I turned around and there was Tom Cruise. It was a pleasant surprise, I can tell you," Robin told the Herald Sun last night.
She said her sister Suzanne later emerged from her swim completely unaware the famous LA family had stolen the show.
"I didn't see them at all," Suzanne said.
The Cruises left via a back entrance just after 6pm flanked by security and returned to Crown.
But the sightseeing is tipped to lift a notch tomorrow night when the TomKat clan hits the town - minus baby Suri - for Cruise's 47th birthday celebrations.
The pair are tipped to venture out for a big night and could even take in a quarter of Collingwood's clash with Essendon at the MCG.
Security teams were seen roaming the casino's perimeters hunting for photographers, who used walkie-talkies and hid their lenses in shopping bags and backpacks.
One rumour doing the rounds has fellow Scientologist Kate Ceberano playing a part in Friday night's celebrations, having sung for Cruise at his birthday in 2005.
Cruise's host at Crown casino, billionaire owner James Packer, is another devoted Scientologist.
Scientologists believe humans possess an inner spirit from an exiled race of aliens that lived in outer space 75 million years ago.
Holmes, 30, starts rehearsals at a Docklands studio on Monday for a big budget horror flick alongside Aussie actor Guy Pearce.
